Village of Tompkins - Population 200

The Village of Tompkins is located on the #1 Trans Canada Highway, just 87km from Cypress Hills Regional Park and South of the Great Sand Hills. Tompkins was named for a C.P.R. contractor from Brockville, Ontario and was incorporated as a Village in 1910.

Tompkins had their electrical lighting system and rural telephone system connected in 1916, but it wasn't until 1964 that we enjoyed the conveniences of the water and sewage system. Street paving was completed in 1977.

Tompkins is in the heart of farm and ranch country, and oil and gas production. Tompkins has residential lots available at reasonable rates and offers opportunities to anyone wishing to start up a new business in the area. Loans of $10,000 are available at low interest rates through the Tompkins Small Business Loans Co-operative Ltd.
